Global cataract surgery and eye health initiatives

International health partnerships and local outreach programs are conducting cataract surgeries and medical screenings across several countries to combat avoidable blindness.

In Trinidad and Tobago, a partnership between Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited and the Save Eyes Everywhere S. E. E. Foundation provided surgeries for fifteen patients to address diabetes-related eye diseases. Similarly, in Malawi, a four-day Vision Care camp at Kamuzu Central Hospital operated on 101 patients to clear surgical backlogs.

In West Africa, initiatives expanded to include Ghana and Nigeria. In Ghana’s Nabdam District, a summit funded by Member of Parliament Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane and the Haven of Love Children's Foundation screened 1,447 residents, identifying 199 individuals in need of surgery. In Nigeria’s Edo State, a collaboration involving the Tantita & Jovason Group, the Africa Cataract & Eye Foundation, and the Edo State Government is providing free surgeries to at least 200 residents, including children, to prevent permanent visual impairment.
