Global drone defense industry contract activity
Overview
Defense companies are securing significant contracts for drone defense technologies. DroneShield’s U.S. subsidiary was awarded the IDIQ JIATF-401 Domestic Shield contract framework, which has a potential maximum value of $500 million. While this allows the company to compete for future orders from U.S. federal agencies, it does not guarantee fixed revenue.
In a separate development, RTX has secured drone defense orders totaling $729 million. Through its Raytheon division, the company is supplying LIDS drone defense system components to the U.S. Army, Qatar, and Jordan. These contracts mark the first international sales for the company’s KuRFS sensors and Coyote interceptor systems. To support this demand, RTX is expanding production capacities and advancing the Coyote Block 2C+RM variant.
