Global nutrition and food quality initiatives

Overview

In mid-October 2026, nutrition specialists and health organizations in Spain, Peru, and Argentina launched various initiatives to promote healthy eating and food quality standards.

In Spain, consumer organizations released guidance to help citizens distinguish high-quality bakery products from refined options by analyzing ingredients and fermentation processes. In Peru, experts addressed a “triple burden of malnutrition,” noting that 43.7% of children aged 6 to 35 months suffer from anemia, with rates reaching 51% in the Ayacucho region. Nutritionists there emphasized the importance of local, seasonal products to combat ultra-processed foods.

Following these efforts, health institutions in Argentina and Peru expanded community-focused education. In Famaillá, Argentina, a hospital hosted sessions with nutritionists and chefs to demonstrate that balanced nutrition does not require high expenditures. Similarly, in the Ucayali region of Peru, health networks conducted educational demonstrations for citizens and staff to empower informed nutritional decision-making.
