Major international opera houses have announced their upcoming performance seasons for 2026 and 2027. Opera Australia has unveiled its 2027 season, which will be the first under the leadership of newly appointed director of opera Amy Lane, alongside CEO Alex Budd and music director Andrea Battistoni. Expanding on the German programming, the Bayerische Staatsoper has announced its 2026/27 season with an emphasis on Wagnerian and contemporary works. This includes the final two parts of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, ‘Siegfried’ and ‘Götterdämmerung’, with Tobias Kratzer directing the trilogy to align with the latter.
