Hitachi Energy announced significant investments to bolster its capacity, including a $528 million project to establish a new transformer factory in Mississippi. This initiative, part of a larger $1.5 billion U.S. expansion plan, aims to address utility hardware shortages where lead times can exceed two years. Simultaneously, the company is investing $300 million in Hefei, China, to strengthen its manufacturing capacity for power transformers within the Chinese market.

In addition to Hitachi Energy, South Korea’s Hyosung Heavy Industries has secured approximately $287 million in orders for ultra-high-voltage transformers from major U.S. technology companies. These units are intended for use in newly constructed AI data centers across the United States.
