New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs data revealed that while Saturday still hosts 45 % of weddings, weekday ceremonies are gaining traction as a cost‑saving measure: Friday accounts for 20 % and each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday about 6 %. Vendors and younger couples, especially Gen Z, cite lower venue rates and a view of weddings as a ritual rather than a costly performance.
