Global women entrepreneurship support initiatives

Overview

Various international initiatives have been launched to support women entrepreneurs through networking, resource coordination, and direct financial or technological aid.

In Munich, the Women Entrepreneurs Alliance (WE Alliance) was established by 17 institutions to connect existing financing, coaching, and networking services within the Bavarian startup ecosystem. In Ghana, the WERise Network announced its 2026 Annual Programme, themed ‘Rise & Scale: Celebrating Growth, Building Revenue and Creating Jobs,’ to increase market opportunities for women-owned enterprises through masterclasses and exhibitions.

In Uganda, the World Bank-supported GROW Project is providing non-repayable grants to women-owned businesses in refugee-hosting districts, focusing on sectors such as STEM, green enterprises, and agricultural processing. Meanwhile, Nepal has introduced a procedure to provide technological support, offering machinery, tools, and equipment to individual entrepreneurs and groups, with an emphasis on sectors like handicrafts, agriculture, and tourism.
