Goldman Sachs adoption of distributed ledger technology
Overview
Goldman Sachs has expanded its use of blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) to enhance financial services and operational workflows.
In late September 2026, the firm made its $105 billion Financial Square Treasury Instruments Fund (FTIXX) available through Lynq, a permissioned Avalanche Layer 1 network. This integration, facilitated via the broker-dealer tZERO, allows eligible U.S. participants to utilize blockchain infrastructure for the settlement and management of cash flows, enabling institutional traders to deploy idle cash into the Treasury fund.
By October 2026, Goldman Sachs joined the Equilend 1Source DLT platform, alongside participants such as BNY and National Bank of Canada. The platform aims to transform securities finance by establishing a “single source of truth” for lending and financing transactions, intended to increase efficiency and reduce the need for manual reconciliations.
