Portuguese football coach Gonçalo Feio, who previously managed Legia Warsaw and achieved success in the UEFA Conference League, is reportedly nearing an appointment as the head coach of Raków Częstochowa. Feio, who has prior experience with Raków Częstochowa as part of a coaching staff between 2020 and 2022, has arrived in Poland to hold discussions with club officials. He has been identified as the primary candidate to replace interim coach Dawid Szulczek, who took over following the departure of Dawid Kroczek.

However, recent developments suggest the appointment is not yet finalized. Following a poor start to the Ekstraklasa season where the club failed to secure a win in its first five matches, Raków Częstochowa remains in search of a permanent manager. While earlier reports positioned Feio as the leading candidate, journalist Marcin Borzęcki reports that an agreement has not yet been reached. The club is reportedly analyzing the international market, and Feio may now be viewed as a secondary option behind other potential candidates such as Dawid Szwarga.

The club’s situation has since deteriorated into a severe crisis. Raków Częstochowa has suffered six consecutive defeats, including a 0-1 loss to Lech Poznań, leaving them at the bottom of the league table with zero points. While Feio remains a widely reported candidate, reports indicate that a final agreement has not been reached and he may face difficulties assembling a coaching staff, as some of his previous collaborators have reportedly declined to work with him again. Club president Wojciech Cygan has stated that a decision regarding the new manager is expected shortly, with details likely to be announced by Tuesday.
