Governance and stability efforts in Hadramaut

Local authorities and political leaders in Hadramaut, Yemen, have initiated several efforts to improve regional stability, governance, and public services.

In Mukalla, security and public works officials met to regulate qat markets to address traffic congestion and ensure legal tax collection. Concurrently, in Seiyun, a large-scale consultative meeting involving approximately 1,500 tribal and social leaders was held to prepare for a general conference. This conference aims to establish unified political and social representation for the province, with officials calling for a move away from tribalism toward collective interests.

Following these developments, the Deputy Governor for the Valley and Desert districts met with the Advisory Committee for Hadramaut in Sayun. This meeting addressed community issues including food security, water and sanitation challenges, and the environmental impact of sewage on agricultural land. The committee also provided reports on market stability, supply chain management, and civil defense readiness to assist in regional development and public service improvements.
