Greece Antiochos 26 national emergency exercise

Overview

Greece conducted ‘Antiochos 26’, a nationwide multi-branch non-combat emergency exercise running from September 24 to October 2, 2026. Managed by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the initiative focused on testing Total Defence and Emergency Civil Planning (PAM – PSEA) through the coordination of military, political, and regional authorities.

The exercise aimed to test national alarm systems and ensure interoperability between the armed forces and public administration. In regions such as Thessaly, Macedonia, and Thrace, activities included demonstrations of firefighting equipment and coordination between local municipalities, the Fire Service, and the Police.

By the conclusion of the exercise, officials in the Thessaly region reported successful testing of operational readiness. Activities included inspecting shelters and managing hypothetical scenarios involving vulnerable groups. The drill concluded with an emphasis on strengthening cooperation between the Armed Forces and Civil Protection, as well as the importance of informing citizens about local shelter locations.
