Greek criminal organization bomb plot investigation

Overview

Greek authorities dismantled a criminal organization linked to a January 2026 bomb plot in Lefkada. The plot targeted the villa of an 81-year-old Greek-American businessman using a device containing approximately 10 kilograms of explosive material. While the device was ignited, the fuse reportedly went out, preventing an explosion.

Police arrested six individuals—five men and one woman—in Piraeus, Aegina, and Nikaia. Investigators identified two inmates at Malandrino Prison as the “moral instigators” of the attack, believing the group consisted of eight members in total.
