In early July 2026 July, Minister Domna Michailidou unveiled a social‑support package that refunds two months’ rent for public servants away from home, expands renovation grants to cover up to 95 % of costs, creates social‑rented homes on public land and offers a €10,000 relocation subsidy for families moving permanently to Florina and Kastoria. The Personal Assistant programme for people with disabilities was made permanent, doubling eligible beneficiaries to roughly 3,600, shifting selection to an objective scoring system and issuing a Disability Card to all disability‑benefit recipients. By 30 July the government began building the first 2,000 social‑housing units on public land in partnership with the Ministry of National Defence, funded by EU resources.
