Greek municipalities expanding vehicle fleets

Overview

Local governments in Greece are modernizing their operational capabilities through the acquisition of new vehicles and machinery.

In Piraeus, the municipality added 18 vehicles to its fleet using internal resources. This expansion includes eight two-wheeled vehicles for services such as the Municipal Police, four pickup trucks for cleanliness and technical services, five SUVs, and one enclosed van to improve operational flexibility.

Similarly, the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos procured five new vehicles and pieces of machinery, including two small garbage trucks, a six-wheel truck with a trailer, an SUV for the ‘Help at Home’ program, and a mini excavator. This initiative, funded via the ‘Philodimos’ program and municipal fees, aims to replace aging equipment with safer, more functional tools.
