Greek political opposition activities by Plevsi Eleftherias

Zoe Konstantopoulou, leader of the Plevsi Eleftherias party, has engaged in significant political challenges within the Greek Parliament.

Initially, Konstantopoulou submitted urgent questions to the Prime Minister regarding economic management. She criticized the government for prioritizing the early repayment of public debt—noting approximately 49 billion euros allocated for this purpose over seven years—while failing to fund public health, education, and justice. She also sought clarity on the Siemens case following a German court decision and raised concerns regarding civil protection and gender-based violence.

Following these inquiries, political tensions escalated during a meeting of the Public Administration Committee. Konstantopoulou was involved in a heated confrontation with Sofia Voultepsi involving personal insults and disputes over parliamentary procedures. The conflict also touched upon the candidacy of Eleana Akrita for Vice President of the Parliament and accusations that Alexis Tsipras used “unethical methods” to attempt to recruit members away from Konstantopoulou’s party.
