Greek regional development and infrastructure funding

Greece has implemented various regional development and infrastructure initiatives through national and recovery funding.

In late September, the Ministry of National Economy & Finance allocated 500,000 euros to the Region of Central Greece for road repairs in the Municipality of Domokos to address damage from natural disasters. Concurrently, the Ministry of Interior approved over 1.4 million euros for the ‘Help at Home’ program in the Prefecture of Karditsa to support protected individuals through personnel and operational funding.

By mid-October, focus shifted to the successful execution of public health infrastructure projects in the Epirus Region. Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis praised the regional administration for meeting strict deadlines associated with the Recovery Fund, noting that regional collaboration was essential to prevent the loss of funding and ensure improved local health services.

On October 15, Minister Georgiadis inaugurated several upgraded facilities in Epirus funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility. These projects included the renovation of the Metsovo Health Center, involving energy and functional upgrades with a budget of approximately 1.06 million euros, and the inauguration of a new Emergency Department at the Ioannina General Hospital ‘G. Chatzikostas’. The latter project, costing nearly 985,000 euros, focused on modernizing infrastructure and introducing advanced equipment to improve patient flow. The Minister credited the successful completion to the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Epirus Region, specifically praising Regional Governor Alexandros Kachimanis for providing technical services that helped meet strict deadlines.
