The wave of SYRIZA departures that began on 13 July 2026 has continued to shrink the party’s parliamentary group. By 19 July the faction fell to single‑digit numbers, a historic low since the 2015 split, and Rena Dourou was installed as the new parliamentary leader amid internal disputes. Karameros said he was joining “not for a position but for the journey, together with many people” and is scheduled to attend an ELAS event in Serafeio to discuss local government matters.
