Grenergy renewable energy developments in Chile

Overview

The renewable energy developer Grenergy has expanded its operations in Chile through both social initiatives and large-scale infrastructure financing.

In September 2026, the Chilean government and Grenergy signed a declaration of intent for ‘Proyecto Luz Antofagasta.’ This initiative aims to provide energy access to vulnerable households in the Tocopilla and Calama communes by installing photovoltaic self-consumption solutions for homes currently lacking grid connections.

By October 2026, Grenergy secured US$457 million in senior non-recourse debt to fund a broader portfolio of solar and battery storage projects. This financing, the largest in the company’s history, supports the 242 MW Algarrobal project within the Oasis de Atacama platform and the 204 MW Palmas Cluster, which consists of 21 distributed solar projects.
