Grêmio organizational and roster updates

The Brazilian football club Grêmio has appointed Leonardo Gaciba, a former FIFA referee and former head of the CBF arbitration commission, as an arbitration and refereeing consultant.

Gaciba holds a permanent role within the football department, providing strategic guidance to players and technical staff on match rules, conduct, and officiating decisions. His responsibilities include producing technical reports, analyzing match performances, and acting as an institutional liaison between the club and governing bodies such as the FGF, CBF, Conmebol, and FIFA. The appointment is intended to help the club navigate frequent changes to football regulations, including new protocols regarding VAR, medical assistance, and player conduct.

In recent structural and roster updates, the club also announced the signing of 30-year-old midfielder Danilo Barbosa from Al-Ula in Saudi Arabia. Barbosa brings international experience from leagues in Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and France, as well as previous championship experience with Palmeiras and Botafogo.

As the club prepares for a critical 23rd round Campeonato Brasileiro match against Atlético-MG at the Arena MRV, it is working to distance itself from the relegation zone. Concurrently, Grêmio is managing roster changes to reduce its wage bill, which includes the potential departure of midfielder Monsalve, who has been training separately from the main squad.
