Group14 Technologies manufacturing expansion

Overview

Group14 Technologies is expanding its production of SCC55, a silicon-carbon composite material used in battery anodes. The company has secured significant funding, including a Series D equity extension that brings its total funding to approximately $1.5 billion.

A central part of this expansion is the establishment of the BAM-4 facility in Sagunto, Spain. This will be the company’s first industrial-scale manufacturing plant in Europe, with an initial capacity of 10 GWh. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, and the site is expected to create up to 200 jobs during construction and maintain a permanent workforce of 150 to 200 employees.

The Spanish site joins existing and planned operations in South Korea and the United States, including the BAM-3 facility in Sangju and the BAM-2 site in Moses Lake, Washington. The company aims to support automotive supply chains and applications ranging from mobile phones to electric aircraft.
