The HYROX circuit continues its rapid global expansion, solidifying its status as a hybrid racing sport that combines running with eight strength-training stations. Founded in 2017 by Moritz Fürste and Christian Toetzke, the format has spread to diverse international locations, including China, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, and the USA. Recent milestones highlight significant growth in the Asian market, with HYROX Bangkok setting a global record by registering over 20,000 participants. In September 2026, the competition expanded its presence in Spain and Mexico. In Tenerife, an event at the Recinto Ferial de Santa Cruz featured approximately 10,000 athletes from over 100 nationalities, including 3,000 local participants. Simultaneously, the second edition of HYROX in Acapulco, Mexico, was held over three days at the Expo Mundo Imperial to accommodate thousands of participants across Open, Doubles, and specialized Pro categories. European expansion has continued with new developments in Turkey and Greece. In Turkey, an event in Izmir hosted more than 2,000 athletes across 14 categories, marking the sport’s first appearance in the city outside of Istanbul. Greece also recently hosted its inaugural HYROX race. As the sport professionalizes, emphasis has increased on specialized training and recovery.
