Guanajuato motorcycle shooting attacks

Overview

In late July 2026, two armed men entered a tabiquera in the El Coyontle area of Yuriria, Guanajuato, opened fire and killed an unidentified patron before fleeing on a motorcycle toward Salvatierra. Municipal police, the National Guard and state prosecutors secured the scene, collected evidence and launched an investigation, but no arrests had been made.

A week later, on a rural road linking San Isidro to Abasolo, a 38‑year‑old driver was ambushed. Two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle, fired at close range and killed the driver. Paramedics found the victim already deceased; investigators recovered spent cartridges and processed the site. Police, the National Guard, the Army and state security forces again secured the area and opened a homicide inquiry.

Both incidents display a pattern of mobile gunmen targeting civilians in Guanajuato, prompting coordinated responses from local and federal security forces and ongoing searches for the perpetrators.
