Gujarat state governance and infrastructure development

Overview

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Gujarat government has initiated several projects aimed at improving state infrastructure and administrative efficiency.

In late October 2026, the state inaugurated healthcare development projects valued at over Rs 532 crore. These initiatives included the construction of 255 healthcare facilities and the foundation laying for 45 additional projects. A primary component of this expansion is a Rs 223 crore Institute of Neuroscience and Research Centre at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital campus, designed to treat complex neurological and spinal disorders.

Concurrently, the government expanded the Sardar Patel Good Governance CM Fellowship Programme. The number of fellows was increased from 41 to 47, with the total number of projects rising from 20 to 45. Partnering with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, the programme utilizes young professionals to conduct research and policy analysis in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and urban administration.
