A subsequent study from Wrocław Medical University expanded on these findings, linking the misalignment to specific traveler symptoms such as bloating, constipation, heaviness, poorer sleep, and lower energy. The authors emphasized the gut‑brain axis’s sensitivity to circadian disruption and offered practical mitigation measures: gradual adjustments of sleep and meals before travel, consistent light exposure, adequate hydration, and avoiding abrupt dietary changes.
Both pieces suggest that beyond long‑haul travelers, shift workers, airline staff, and others with irregular schedules may experience similar gut disturbances due to circadian misalignment.
