Gyeonggi Province social welfare initiatives
Overview
Gyeonggi Province has introduced several programs aimed at supporting vulnerable residents and improving local living conditions.
In late October, the province launched a support initiative for small-scale apartment complexes and rental housing units with fewer than 300 households. This program focuses on building maintenance through long-term repair plans, community revitalization, and the prevention of inter-floor noise via resident committees. Advisory services have already been provided to complexes in Bucheon, Icheon, and Gwangju.
Additionally, the province announced the ‘Gyeonggi Ultra-Low Credit Loan 2.0’ to assist low-credit residents who have been victims of illegal private financing. The program offers loans of up to 2 million KRW at a 1% annual interest rate for up to 10 years. To qualify, applicants must have resided in the province for at least one year and fall within the bottom 10% of credit scores, with certain exceptions for single-parent families and basic livelihood security recipients. The initiative includes integrated support for debt resolution, employment, and welfare services.
