Halloween seasonal offers, safety, and preservation tips

As the Halloween season approaches, various seasonal offers and safety advisories have emerged. Digital entertainment provider Fanatical is running a limited-time promotion allowing users to obtain a free Steam key for the game ‘Spooky Cats’ by subscribing to their newsletter by October 10.

Simultaneously, medical professionals are issuing health warnings regarding Halloween costumes and makeup for children. Dr. Justine Fenner of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has cautioned that face paints and cosmetics may contain dyes, fragrances, or preservatives capable of causing hives or contact dermatitis. To prevent adverse reactions such as blisters, itching, or rashes, parents are encouraged to perform patch tests on small areas of skin one week prior to Halloween.

In Bavaria, themed events are being hosted at several attractions, including Legoland Deutschland in Günzburg, Bayern-Park in Reisbach, Bavaria Filmstadt in Grünwald, and Pullman City, with offerings ranging from family-friendly programs to horror mazes. Additionally, experts have provided guidance on pumpkin preservation to prevent mold and decay. Recommended techniques include thoroughly cleaning and drying the pumpkin, removing all internal pulp, soaking carved pumpkins in cold water, or using a mixture of lemon juice and water to extend freshness.
