Handball match violence in Aarhus

Overview

A violent incident occurred during a handball match between SAH-Aarhus and Fredericia HK at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, resulting in the hospitalization of a security guard. East Jutland Police reported that the assault followed contact between the guard and traveling fans from the away team. A 58-year-old man from Fredericia has been charged with violence.

In response to the incident, Fredericia Håndboldklub reached an agreement with its fan club, HK Ultras, to establish new frameworks for cooperation and clear requirements for members. The club has temporarily suspended the charged individual from attending home matches. CEO Thomas Renneberg-Larsen stated that the club “unequivocally distances itself from violence and behavior that creates insecurity,” though the club will respect due process while the police investigation continues.
