Harry Winks career and injury status at Cagliari

English midfielder Harry Winks has reflected on his return to Serie A with Cagliari, noting his appreciation for the club, the local supporters, and manager Fabio Pisacane. He contrasted his current experience with a difficult previous tenure at Sampdoria.

Following a period sidelined by lower back pain, which caused him to miss matches against Bologna and Roma, Winks has resumed group training. His availability for the upcoming match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico remains dependent on his physical response to training loads, though he remains a central figure in the team's tactical setup under Pisacane.

In the fixture against Lazio, Cagliari suffered a 2:1 comeback defeat at the Stadio Olimpico. M’Bala Nzola opened the scoring for Cagliari in the 21st minute after capitalizing on a defensive error by Reda Belahyane. However, Lazio responded via Gustav Isaksen in the 36th minute and secured the victory in the 83rd minute with an Andrea Pinamonti header. The match concluded with Cagliari playing the final minutes with ten men after Adam Obert received a second yellow card. This result marks Cagliari’s fourth consecutive league defeat, while Lazio moved into sole possession of first place in the Serie A standings.

The match was also marked by controversy when Cagliari captain Alessandro Deiola remained on the ground following a collision, though the referee allowed play to continue prior to the winning goal. This victory extended Lazio’s winning streak to six consecutive league matches, placing them three points ahead of Inter Milan. Cagliari remains in 11th place with 13 points.
