Recent developments in Brazil and Mozambique highlight efforts to expand and improve healthcare infrastructure and services.

In Brazil and Mozambique, local governments are launching new facilities to increase community access to medical care. In Marabá, Brazil, construction has begun on a Type III Basic Health Unit in the Jardim Bela Vista neighborhood to provide primary care, vaccinations, and dental services. In Mozambique’s Marara district, plans are underway to convert former World Vision offices into a sanitary unit, potentially including a maternity ward, to reduce travel distances for residents.

In Brazil, healthcare advancements have also been recognized through innovation awards and specialized service milestones. Hospital Moinhos de Vento received first place in the Culture category of the ‘Campeãs da Inovação 2026’ awards for its innovation management. Additionally, the Drª. Glória Tereza Lima Batista Lopes Pediatric Unit in Aracaju has completed its first year of operation, having conducted over 33,000 consultations and implementing specialized protocols for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
