Arrowhead Game Studios has released several updates for Helldivers 2 to address technical stability and gameplay balance. An initial major version 7.1.0 patch and emergency hotfix addressed enemy behavior, kill statistics, and crashing issues related to fullscreen mode and superwide resolutions. Subsequent updates introduced the ‘Reach of Authority’ premium warbond, which added new equipment such as the R-40 Aligner bolt-action precision rifle and various armor sets designed for camouflage. This update also implemented Easy Anti-Cheat, enhanced security tools, and improved DirectX 12 support, alongside a balance pass on specific weapons and stratagems. Following the transition from GameGuard to Easy Anti-Cheat in update 7.2.0, the game experienced a wave of negative Steam reviews, causing its rating to drop to “Mixed”. This backlash occurred because the new anti-cheat system rendered many cosmetic mods unusable. Arrowhead defended the change as a necessary step to protect players from modifications that provide unfair advantages. To address stability during this period, Further friction emerged as players noted that many unofficial mods are used to fix persistent gameplay issues, such as hitbox problems and malfunctioning stratagems. While Arrowhead clarified that modifications negatively impacting the experience of other players will no longer function, some players reported technical issues including crashes and failures to launch. In response, the studio released hotfix 1.007.201 to resolve crashes occurring when players join a support guide recommending the removal of conflicting files like ReShade or leave squads, OptiScaler, while continuing to investigate issues involving weapon labeling and visual glitches. develop more comprehensive fixes.
