The hardware retail chains Hellweg and BayWa Bau- & Garten-Märkte are undergoing restructuring and liquidation following an insolvency filing in June 2026. The process is expected to lead to the dissolution of the Hellweg brand as no single investor has emerged to acquire the company in its entirety. In Germany, out of the 114 markets operating at the time of filing, only approximately 35 locations are expected to continue operations. These include 18 Hellweg markets and 17 BayWa Bau & Garten locations.
