Hidalgo state monsoon reconstruction efforts

Overview

Following the impact of a monsoonal trough, the Hidalgo state government has initiated a long-term reconstruction phase to repair infrastructure and support affected communities.

In August 2026, Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar highlighted ongoing efforts in Xochicoatlán, noting that over 147 million pesos have been allocated over the last four years for projects such as the Molango-Xochicoatlán state highway and various rural roads. Plans for 2026 include the rehabilitation of nine rural roads and potable water line repairs in Texcaco.

By late August, the reconstruction efforts expanded to include the municipality of Lolotla. Governor Menchaca stated that the process, which began ten months prior following the monsoon trough, continues with support from President Claudia Sheinbaum, focusing on both infrastructure and social programs for rural women and small producers.
