Highway toll rate increases in southern Brazil
Overview
Several highway concessionaires in southern Brazil have implemented toll rate increases following authorizations from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).
In late August 2026, CCR ViaSul increased rates on federal highways BR-101, BR-290, and BR-386 in Rio Grande do Sul. The adjustment, based on the Consumer Price Index (IPCA), raised the base rate for passenger vehicles to R$ 6.90 across seven toll plazas. Concurrently, Via Araucária implemented an average 5.3% increase at five locations across 473 kilometers of highways in Paraná.
By mid-September, Arteris Litoral Sul applied new rates to sections of the BR-101, BR-376, and BR-116 highways in Santa Catarina and Paraná. This adjustment followed a 4.44% variation in the IPCA. The concessionaire noted that revenues from these increases are intended for reinvestment into infrastructure, safety, and traffic flow improvements.
