There has been a noted decline in preventive measures, such as condom use, among both young people and adults over 50. Additionally, because treatments do not eliminate the latent viral reservoir, patients face risks of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). This condition affects the central nervous system, with symptoms ranging from asymptomatic impairment to dementia, impacting quality of life and employment.
