In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities and industry experts are focusing on food safety management and supply chain oversight. An inspection of the Hoc Mon Agricultural and Food Wholesale Market by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council found that business households within the facility had obtained necessary safety certificates and that recent testing for pesticides, growth stimulants, and Salmonella showed no violations. However, officials noted that approximately 147 spontaneous business points surrounding the market continue to present challenges for waste management and food safety.

Following these inspections, a workshop titled “Where does a safe meal begin?” was held to address food safety across the entire supply chain. Participants emphasized the need for improved traceability, particularly regarding school meals, and called for high-tech monitoring systems to provide real-time feedback. The discussion highlighted that food safety is a public health issue requiring cooperation from production, distribution, and processing sectors, with suggestions that parents require better access to information regarding school meal origins.
