Ho Chi Minh City metro service disruption

Overview

On October 17, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line (Metro Line 1) in Ho Chi Minh City experienced a service disruption following a power failure at the 220kV Thu Duc substation.

Lê Minh Triết, Director of HURC1, reported that the outage began at 7:04 AM and impacted 14 train trips. The technical incident at the substation also caused power interruptions for local residents and businesses in several areas of Thu Duc.

Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) and the Southern Power System Dispatch Center used remote control systems to prioritize restoring power to the metro line. Operations returned to normal at 7:57 AM once the load was re-established.
