Honda electric two‑wheel rollout in Asia

Entities: QC3 electric scooter · Honda Motor Co. · India

Overview

In late July 2026 Honda began expanding its low‑cost electric two‑wheel portfolio across Asian markets. On 23 July the company, via its joint venture with Wuyang, launched the UQ3 electric scooter in Vietnam, priced at roughly $650 and equipped with a 2.2 kW motor, 72 V 23 Ah battery, LED headlights, GPS and a 30‑litre storage compartment. The model is aimed at commuters, shoppers and school runs and is intended to challenge budget e‑bike makers.

Two days later, on 25 July, Honda unveiled the QC3 electric scooter in India. It uses a rear‑hub motor and a 3 kWh lithium‑ion battery delivering an IDC‑certified range of about 145 km, with fast‑charging to 80 % in roughly 2 h 40 min and a full charge in about four hours. At the launch Honda highlighted a 5‑inch TFT colour display, Bluetooth‑enabled RoadSync integration, Smart Key system, telescopic front fork, dual rear shock absorbers, a front disc brake and a rear drum brake, plus a 32‑litre under‑seat storage compartment. Industry sources expect an ex‑showroom price near INR 1.20 lakh. Together these launches signal Honda’s push to capture emerging electric two‑wheel markets in South and Southeast Asia.
