Hong Kong police crackdown on illegal activities
Overview
Hong Kong authorities have conducted several operations targeting various illegal activities. On October 22, police in the Yau Tsim Police District dismantled an illegal gambling den on San Tin Wai Street, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals, including a 63-year-old local man suspected of managing the premises.
Following this, a multi-agency initiative known as ‘Operation Tide Break’ (斷潮) was carried out between October 17 and October 28. This operation targeted illegal gambling, prostitution, and unauthorized fuel stations in the Tai Po and Sheung Shui districts. The crackdown led to the arrest of 90 individuals, including 24 mainland Chinese nationals.
During this period, authorities dismantled six triad-controlled illegal gambling dens and infiltrated four prostitution sites. Additionally, police discovered an unauthorized petrol station in Sheung Shui, seizing approximately 977 liters of diesel and arresting a 31-year-old local man for violating fire safety and dangerous goods regulations.
