Hosbec dispute over Imserso tourism pricing

Overview

The hotel industry association Hosbec has raised alarms regarding the economic viability of the Imserso social tourism program in the Valencian Community. The association warns that frozen pricing structures threaten the sector, potentially leading to the loss of 15,000 direct and indirect jobs and a combined economic impact of 150 million euros in turnover and secondary spending.

Hosbec argues that while pensions are updated annually, the compensation paid to hotels remains stagnant between 26 and 30 euros per person per day. To counter rising inflation and costs, the association is demanding a rate increase to a minimum of 35 euros plus VAT. Without these adjustments, Hosbec warns of a “desert effect” in key destinations such as Benidorm, Torrevieja, and Gandía, as hotels may opt out of the program to avoid losses.
