Hilton has introduced a ‘Pay with Points’ feature for Hilton Honors elite members, allowing Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Diamond Reserve members to redeem loyalty points for various expenses, such as food and spa services, via the Hilton Honors app during digital checkout. The program is currently rolling out at 150 hotels in the United States, with plans to reach 800 properties by the end of 2026 and over 6,000 hotels across the United States and Canada in early 2027.

Concurrently, hotel owners have raised concerns regarding transparency in reimbursement rates for loyalty program redemptions. In soft brand agreements, such as Hilton’s Curio Collection and Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the specific compensation paid to owners for rooms booked via loyalty points is often not defined in primary contracts. For Hilton, reimbursement is determined by the program rather than a fixed formula, while Marriott’s disclosures mention only a “limited reimbursement” and allow the chain to change calculation factors at any time, leaving owners vulnerable to compensation fluctuations.
