Huawei AI ecosystem and partnership expansion

Huawei is expanding its artificial intelligence and data intelligence ecosystems through various industry-specific partnerships and infrastructure initiatives.

In mid-August, the company launched a joint data intelligence solution with Dipu Technology to address data silos in sectors like retail and smart manufacturing. Simultaneously, Huawei introduced the Artificial Intelligence Practice LAB (AIPL) Baseline Partner Program in Shenzhen, which utilizes Ascend computing power to integrate AI training into university education.

By late August, Huawei intensified its focus on the pharmaceutical sector. William Zhang, president of Huawei’s healthcare business unit, stated the company aims to deepen research into medical AI to facilitate collaboration across drug manufacturing, clinical practice, and implementation. This strategy involves providing Ascend and Kunpeng chips to support domestic Chinese drugmakers in biological data analysis, drug candidate identification, and modeling compound behavior. This builds on previous work with Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings and StoneWise to maintain drug discovery pipelines using domestic technology.

In late August, Huawei, Qiyuan Laboratory, and various research institutions released the ‘Digital Intelligence Fusion Open Architecture.’ This four-layer framework aims to resolve enterprise AI bottlenecks by integrating data and intelligence systems to reduce data movement. Within the medical field, Ruijin Hospital and Huawei Cloud launched RuiPath 2.0, an upgraded 7B parameter pathology large model. Designed to improve diagnostic capability and interpretability, the model allows hospitals to train customized versions with less data. Currently, over 90 hospitals in China have implemented RuiPath to assist in early cancer diagnosis and standardized pathology services.
