HUMAIN AI technology development

Overview

Saudi Arabia’s state-backed technology company, HUMAIN, has introduced new hardware and software developments focused on artificial intelligence.

In late August, the company teased the Horizon Ultra, an AI-focused laptop developed in collaboration with Qualcomm. The device is designed for local AI processing using the Snapdragon X2 Elite platform and features an operating system built for an “agentic AI world,” aiming to transition from app-based workflows to intent-driven experiences.

Following this, HUMAIN unveiled humain-m3, a large language model optimized for the Arabic language. The model utilizes China’s MiniMax-M3 architecture as a foundation, undergoing post-training on over one trillion Arabic tokens. Using a Mixture-of-Experts architecture, the model is designed to understand various dialects and local contexts. This initiative is part of a broader “sovereign AI” strategy to maintain control over data and cultural alignment through infrastructure investments, such as data centers in NEOM’s Oxagon.
