Human trafficking investigation in Montenegro

Overview

Montenegrin authorities in Podgorica and Ulcinj arrested a man and charged a woman for human trafficking involving their 15-year-old daughter. The investigation revealed that the parents arranged an illegal marriage between two minors in November 2025 and subsequently handed the daughter over to another family in Ulcinj for 3,000 euros.

Following this transfer, the minor was allegedly forced by a resident of Ulcinj to sell marijuana through the use of force and threats. The exploitation was uncovered during police controls at Mala plaža, where the minor was caught selling drugs.
