Foreign Minister Anita Orbán stated the audit uncovered evidence suggesting a breach of trust causing “particularly significant financial loss.”

The investigation examines the responsibility of the ministry’s previous leadership, which was headed by Péter Szijjártó during the pandemic. Auditors identified significant price discrepancies, including a 37 million euro difference across six suppliers and a 16 million euro discrepancy in a single contract with Proconcept Kft. Digital forensics recovered 88 gigabytes of data to assist the probe. Furthermore, reports indicate that at least 12,000 ventilators remained unused in storage, incurring significant warehousing costs.

The Kommentár Alapítvány has denied all allegations of fraud, stating that the report “lacks any legal and factual basis” and maintaining that the organization has operated in compliance with legal regulations for twenty years.
