Hungarian thermal water certification and facility updates
Overview
The status and availability of thermal water facilities in Hungary have seen recent administrative and operational updates.
In September, the registry of certified medicinal waters underwent changes. In Hajdú-Bihar county, the K–73 thermal well in Hajdúdorog lost its medicinal water status, though reports noted this was due to failing to meet specific legal requirements rather than a decline in water quality. Meanwhile, the B–308 thermal well in Gyirmóton received new certification, and a scientific study in Abony regarding the therapeutic effects of well B-71 on knee osteoarthritis has moved the certification process forward.
By October, several thermal baths scheduled for seasonal autumn maintenance began reopening. Facilities including Lipóti Termálfürdő, Hajdúnánás, Nádudvar, Tiszaföldvár, and Kaposvár Virágfürdő have set reopening dates around the October 23 long weekend and autumn school break.
