Hungarian wage growth remains a central economic focus, though recent data reveals growing disparities and labor market shifts. June 2026 data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows the average gross wage at HUF 754,700 (+7.1% YoY) and net earnings at HUF 529,700 (+9.4% YoY). Conversely, Róbert Zlati, President of the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation, argues that even a 14% increase would fail to ensure the minimum wage reaches 50% of the gross average wage. Additionally, Hungary has yet to publish national legislation required to implement EU-mandated wage transparency rules, missing the June 2026 deadline. This delay coincides with a decline in job advertisements that include salary information, which have dropped to approximately 22–23%.
