Tropical Storm Marie initially caused significant flooding and destruction in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with winds reaching 75 mph. Local businesses, including the Cabo Wabo club, reported the situation as a “disaster” as the storm impacted buildings and services. The storm subsequently intensified into a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of approximately 155 km/h. Although the eye moved west-northwest away from the mainland, its circulation caused heavy rainfall and overflowing arroyos across the Baja California Peninsula. In Cabo San Lucas, the Lagunitas stream overflowed, sweeping away vehicles. In response, authorities suspended educational activities in Los Cabos and Comondú and closed several ports to small vessels.
