Hurricane Polo has undergone explosive intensification, with sustained wind speeds now reported between 285 and 290 km/h and maximum gusts reaching up to 350 km/h. Meteorologists attribute this rapid strengthening—which saw wind speeds nearly triple in less than 24 hours—to warm ocean waters associated with the El Niño phenomenon.
