The same week Mazda rolled out the CX‑90 plug‑in hybrid SUV in the United States, priced from US$50,695 plus a $7,250 premium over the gasoline version. Its system combines a four‑cylinder engine with an electric motor for 323 hp, an electric‑only range of roughly 27 miles, and a high‑end cabin, though reviewers note a less refined power delivery compared with conventional hybrids.

By the end of July, European reviews highlighted two additional hybrid SUVs. Peugeot’s 3008 Hybrid, praised for its design‑focused coupe‑SUV silhouette and large curved digital display, debuted in Slovakia. Ford’s Kuga Hybrid, built around a 2.5‑liter Atkinson‑cycle gasoline engine and a 1.1 kWh lithium‑ion battery, produces 134 kW combined output, achieves about 5.5 L/100 km fuel consumption and can travel roughly 214 km on electric power alone. Together, these releases illustrate a rapid expansion of hybrid SUV offerings across multiple markets, emphasizing varied powertrains, battery technologies and premium interiors.
