Hyogo doctor arrested for wife's dismemberment

Overview

In Hyogo Prefecture, 46-year-old doctor Kenji Shimomura was arrested for the suspected dismemberment and abandonment of his wife, Mami Shimomura. The incident reportedly occurred in August 2025 at their residence in Amagasaki.

Following the event, Shimomura filed a missing person report in September, claiming his wife had left home after an argument. However, police recovered bones from a river in Amagasaki that showed signs of being “finely cut.” Shimomura has reportedly admitted to the charges, stating he “cut the bones and body parts separately before discarding them” in a bag.
